Maintenance Technician

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a hands-on, multi-trade role responsible for the general upkeep, repair, and maintenance of our cannabis grow facility. We are looking for a reliable jack-of-all-trades with moderate skills across multiple disciplines who takes pride in keeping a facility running smoothly. The ideal candidate is resourceful, self-sufficient, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team across a wide variety of maintenance tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 

• Perform general facility maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks across all areas of the building 

• Handle basic to intermediate plumbing repairs: fixing leaks, replacing fixtures, unclogging drains, and maintaining water lines 

• Assist with HVAC maintenance: filter changes, unit inspections, minor troubleshooting, and coordinating with licensed contractors when required 

• Perform basic electrical work: replacing outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, and ballasts (non-permit work) 

• Complete carpentry and framing tasks: building partitions, repairing structures, installing shelving and fixtures 

• Patch, repair, and finish drywall to a paintable standard 

• Prepare surfaces and apply paint to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces as needed 

• Conduct routine facility walkthroughs to identify and log maintenance issues before they escalate 

• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner 

• Maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts, and supplies 

• Coordinate with and assist third-party contractors and vendors as required 

• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with facility safety standards and SOPs 

• Adapt to shift changes and urgent maintenance needs as they arise

REQUIREMENTS 

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 

• Moderate, working knowledge across multiple trades including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, framing, drywall, and painting 

• Ability to diagnose common facility issues and determine appropriate solutions 

• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, get-it-done attitude 

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 

• Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment — standing, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly 

• Open and flexible availability, including the ability to respond to after-hours or urgent maintenance situations 

• Must comply with all facility dress code and safety requirements: 

— Company-issued uniform required at all times while on shift 

— Non-slip, closed-toe safety footwear required 

— PPE to be worn as required per task and area

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 

• Previous experience in hotel engineering, building maintenance, or facilities management is strongly preferred 

• Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) or maintenance tracking software 

• Experience working within a regulated or controlled environment (cannabis, food production, pharmaceutical, etc.) 

• Trade certifications or licenses in any discipline are an asset 

• WHMIS / safety training certification

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 

This role operates throughout all areas of a licensed cannabis grow facility, including mechanical rooms, grow rooms, and common areas. The environment may involve exposure to plant material, cleaning chemicals, varying temperatures and humidity levels, and moderate noise. This is a physically active, on-your-feet role — no two days are the same.
